Description:

The Department of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is inviting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in its Behavioral Neuroscience Division, starting in fall 2013. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related discipline, an excellent record of research with a productive, federally funded research program or evidence of ability to establish one, and strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. The candidate will interact with a highly visible group of neuro-endocrinologists working on rodent, avian, and primate models, as well as other groups within the Department and across campus. Ideal candidates will have a strong program in one or more of the following areas: stress, learning and memory, addiction, neurodegenerative disorders, neuroimmunology, and/or neuroendocrinology. Epigenetic, genetic, electrophysiological, pharmacological, or neuroanatomical approaches are particularly desired.

Requirements:

Candidates should expect to become an active member of the Graduate Program in Neuroscience and Behavior that includes faculty members from the Departments of Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Computer Science, and other departments, as well as from the colleges in the nearby Five College community and the New England Primate Research Center.
